Keytruda is used to treat multiple cancers
including non-small cell lung cancer, melanoma, triple-negative breast cancer, head and neck cancers, ovarian cancer, bladder cancer, and gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer. It is administered by intravenous infusion every 3 to 6 weeks.
Keytruda is a targeted immunotherapy treatment that works by blocking PD-1 receptors on T-cells, preventing them from hiding from the immune system. It is not chemotherapy.
Keytruda (pembrolizumab) first gained FDA approval on September 4, 2010, for advanced melanoma. Multiple approvals for other types of cancer followed. There is no generic or biosimilar.
